If you graduated in July 2017 or beyond, you can securely share your digital graduation documents with any third party you choose for any length of time via My eQuals.

Additionally, employers can sign up to the Graduations Verification Service (GVS) offered within My eQuals.
You can also refer employers or other third parties to use our free Online Degree Verification (ODV) service if you graduated from 2002 onwards.

From 1 January 2017, majors* will appear on testamurs (degree certificates) as follows:

    • Bachelor programs: A maximum of two majors can appear.
    • Master programs: A maximum of one major can appear, unless the programs and courses website states your master program can have two majors.

If the name of the major is the same as the program title, the major will not appear on the testamur. If you complete additional majors, they will not appear on your testamur, but will appear on your official academic transcript. Please note that depending on your program of study, your major may also be referred to as an academic plan or teaching area.

Students who graduated prior to 1 January 2017

For students who graduated prior to 1 January 2017, a major was only printed on a testamur (degree certificate) if it was specifically approved by the University's Academic Committee as an award major. If you completed the requirements for an award major or award specialisation, it was printed on your testamur, official academic transcript and Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS).

A non-award major or non-award specialisation was only printed on your official academic transcript and AHEGS. Your testamur shows the award title only.
If you completed multiple award majors or award specialisations, a maximum of one award major for a master program and two award majors for a bachelor program were printed on a testamur. They are displayed under the award title on your testamur.

    Explanation

A testamur is a degree certificate issued by the University Council to signify you have completed the requirements of your program.

A testamur can only be issued upon graduation. We cannot issue your testamur before your actual conferral date. Please note that this could be months earlier than the graduation ceremony you are invited to celebrate your conferral at. You can find more information on the Conferral dates webpage.

Your testamur will contain your name, your program award title and the date of conferral. It will also show the official University Seal and the signatures of our Chancellor and Vice Chancellor.

    Explanation

The Graduate Verification Service (GVS) is a strategic initiative within the My eQuals ecosystem that offers fast and secure verification to employers, recruiters and employment screeners who need to confirm the academic credentials of job applicants. Integrated into the recruitment process, it removes one of the major sources of resume fraud by quickly and easily authenticating genuine candidates’ academic qualifications.

The Graduate Verification Service contains graduate data from participating My eQuals education institutions. Verification requests are matched against the Graduate Verification Service to confirm a job candidate’s education claims. The candidate must give explicit consent for this verification to be undertaken. Once that consent has been obtained, the candidate can provide their details for verification through a secure portal.

If a match is found against the Graduate Verification Service, the employer receives a ‘match’ response. If there is no exact match, the employer will receive an ‘no match’ response. Details of the graduate are never released by the Graduate Verification Service.
