What can we help you find?

    Supplementary assessment and reassessment

Learn more about Griffith's reassessment and supplementary assessment processes.

    Reassessment

Reassessment is the opportunity to resubmit or re-attempt a failed assessment task. The Assessment Plan in the Course Profile will list if reassessment or re-attempt is available for an assessment item.

The Course Convenor with the Program Director will decide if there is the opportunity for reassessment. If you are awarded the opportunity to resubmit an assessment task, you can make changes to the task you have failed. You will have five working days from return of the assessment task to resubmit for re-examination. You will get one opportunity to resubmit and it will be re-examined by the original examiner. The final mark you will receive following reassessment will be no greater than the minimum pass mark for the assessment task.

Please note that resubmission is not offered for research projects or dissertations.

    Supplementary exam

The granting of a supplementary exam is considered to be a significant concession by the University. You cannot apply to sit a supplementary exam, but you may be granted the opportunity to do so and have it awarded by the School Assessment Board, under the delegated authority of the Dean (Learning and Teaching).

All students must attempt the supplementary exam on the scheduled date and no further deferment is available. You will also need to achieve a pass mark in each of your supplementary exams to be awarded a grade no higher than a 4 (Pass). If you do not attend your supplementary exam, you will receive a grade of 3 (Fail).

You can find more information in Section 3.12.1 of the Assessment Procedure for Students.

    SUP—supplementary assessment

Students who are awarded supplementary assessment are notified after final grades are released. If you have been awarded a supplementary exam, the code SUP will be recorded against the course on your academic transcript. You will be sent an email after grades are published to advise that you have been awarded a central supplementary exam.

Refer to exam timetable publication dates for details of when your supplementary exam timetable will be published in myGriffith.

    SSP—school-based supplementary assessment

If you are awarded school-based supplementary assessment, the code SSP will be recorded against the course on your academic transcript (with the exception of courses with the MED grading basis. If your course has an MED grading basis, the school will notify you if you have been awarded supplementary assessment).

Contact your school for more information about your school-based supplementary assessment.
